American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) Course
Southeast Safety Partners delivers authorized American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers through high-engagement, instructor-led training. Designed as a direct antidote to low-retention click-through courses, our hands-on instruction equips healthcare professionals and emergency responders with the skills and confidence needed to save lives in critical situations.
Who Is This Course Suited For?
The AHA BLS course is designed for certified healthcare professionals, emergency response personnel, and students entering clinical environments who require official basic life support credentials.
In-Hospital Personnel: Physicians, registered nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and clinical support staff.
Pre-Hospital & Emergency Responders: Paramedics, EMTs, firefighters, and law enforcement officers.
Dental Professionals: Dentists, dental hygienists, and dental assistants.
Allied Health Students: Nursing, medical, EMT, and physical therapy students preparing for clinical rotations.
Outpatient & Long-Term Care Teams: Home health aides, clinic staff, and physical therapy personnel needing initial or renewal certification.
What You Will Learn
Utilizing state-of-the-art feedback manikins and practical scenario practice, our course focuses on rapid recognition, immediate response, and high-performance resuscitation techniques.
High-Quality Chest Compressions: Master depth, recoil, and compression rates to maximize perfusion during cardiac arrest.
AED Application & Operation: Learn rapid deployment and safety protocols for Automated External Defibrillators.
Airway Management & Ventilation: Practice effective single-rescuer and multi-rescuer bag-valve-mask (BVM) and barrier device ventilation.
Multi-Rescuer Team Dynamics: Develop clear communication, defined roles, and efficient coordination during high-stress resuscitation events.
Foreign Body Airway Obstruction: Identify and manage choking emergencies quickly in conscious and unconscious patients.
Lifesaving Care for Adults, Children, and Infants
Effective resuscitation requires adapting techniques based on patient age and physiological needs. The AHA BLS curriculum covers protocols across all age groups:
1. Adult Resuscitation Protocols
Compressions: Two-handed chest compressions at a depth of 2 to 2.4 inches at a rate of 100–120 bpm.
Team Operations: Integration of advanced airways, two-rescuer BVM ventilation, and rapid pulse checks.
System of Care: Early recognition of cardiac arrest, rapid AED delivery, and immediate post-cardiac arrest care integration.
2. Pediatric & Infant Resuscitation Protocols
Tailored Compression Techniques: One- or two-handed compressions for children (2 inches depth); 2-thumb encircling hands or 2-finger techniques for infants (1.5 inches depth).
Multi-Rescuer Ratios: Adapting compression-to-ventilation ratios from 30:2 (single-rescuer) to 15:2 (two-rescuer) for pediatric patients to address respiratory-driven cardiac arrest.
Specialized Ventilation & Airway: Proper head-tilt/chin-lift positioning to avoid airway occlusion in infants, paired with gentle, controlled breaths to protect smaller lung capacities.
Pediatric AED Usage: Utilizing pediatric attenuators and electrode placement strategies for small chest contours.
Pediatric Choking Relief: Executing back slaps and chest thrusts for infants, alongside abdominal thrusts (Heimlich maneuver) for children.
